  • Feb. 21, 2024 - SBPA signed the letter urging members of the House of Representatives to co-sponsor the Fairness in Nursing Home Arbitration Act.
  • Feb. 21, 2024 - SBPA signed on as an endorsing organization of the California Guaranteed Health Care for All Act (AB 2200).
  • Nov. 15, 2023 - SBPA sign onto a letter opposing the Mayor's proposed ban on encampments "near" schools & daycare centers.
  • Nov. 15, 2023 - SBPA signed onto a statement supporting the local tenant preference policy.
  • Nov. 15, 2023 - SBPA agrees to co-sponsorship the Health Justice Dialogue 2023 on Saturday, December 2.
  • Nov. 15, 2023 - SBPA agrees to co-sponsor the 21st Annual Human Agenda Award ceremony and make a donation of $100.
  • Oct. 18, 2023 - SBPA agrees to co-sponsor the Break the Mold Conference on Nov. 6 where the top topics are food and housing.
  • Sept. 20, 2023 - SBPA agrees to co-sponsor with PACT and others to hosting an event entitled Second Annual Together We Vote Block Party in order to enroll more people in the community into voting.
  • June 21, 2023 - SBPA agreed to co-sponsor the Green Party’s national Zoom webinar entitled Path to Win Single Payer NOW! on winning single payer healthcare.
  • June 21, 2023 - SBPA co-sponsored the Stewart Udall film event and provided $100 to help cover costs.
  • June 21, 2023 - SBPA submitted a letter of support to the County Board of Supervisors regarding "Urgent Need to Address the County Staffing Crisis and Invest in our Community".
  • May 17, 2023 - SBPA takes an OPPOSE position to SJ Mayor Matt Mahan’s attempt to REDUCE Measure E affordable housing funds and redirect them to interim shelter construction.
  • May 17, 2023 - SBPA signed onto the Bill of Rights for Children & Youth.
  • April 19, 2023 - SBPA agreed to co-host a community screening of the documentary "Reimagining Safety"  about moving away from policing and prison to abolition and restorative justice.
  • April 19, 2023 - SBPA supported AB 270/SB 24 to repeal the current statewide ban on public financing.
  • April 19, 2023 - SBPA signed up to support California Social Housing.
  • April 19, 2023 - SBPA signed a petition of support for AB 83 (Get Foreign Money Out of California Elections Act).
  • Feb. 15, 2023 - SBPA signed onto the letter of support for the recently introduced California Senate Bill 252, the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act.
  • Oct. 15, 2022 - SBPA co-hosts 2022 Elections Forum with presentations on the 7 state propositions, and a review of the San Jose City Council candidates.
  • Sept. 21, 2022 - SBPA cosponsors the Rally for Juristac to protect the sacred ceremonial heartland of the Amah Mutsun tribe.
  • July 20, 2022 - SBPA supports a change in the immigrant registry date which has not been updated in 40 years.
  • July 20, 2022 - SBPA supports a proposal regarding minimum requirement standards for school superintendents with a resolution of support.
  • May 18, 2022 - SBPA endorsed the proposal for NonCitizen Voting in San Jose.
  • May 18, 2022 - SBPA joined the Bans Off Our Bodies coalition with Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.
  • May 18, 2022 - SBPA added its name to the list of elected officials, business, faith and community leaders who support the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (HR 2307).
  • May 18, 2022 - SBPA signed onto a letter of support for the Stanford Hospital nurses retaining health care benefits during the strike.
  • April 20, 2022 - SBPA signed a letter of support for SB 1230 which will cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and support a faster and more equitable transition to clean cars in California.
  • April 20, 2022 - SBPA sent a letter supporting the Employee Ownership Bill - SB 1407 as an aid to worker co-ops.
  • April 20, 2022 - SBPA sent a letter formally endorsing San Jose Measure B campaign which will move the mayoral election to presidential years, and make our elections more fair and accessible.
  • January 19, 2022 - SBPA signed onto this letter of support for HR 40 that would establish an expert commission to study the legacy of slavery and its effects.
  • January 19, 2022 - SBPA endorsed the campaign advocating a community plan for COPA (Community Opportunity to Purchase Act) in San Jose as a valuable tool for fighting displacement.
  • December 15, 2021 - SBPA signed onto a group letter to Senator Feinstein asking that she publicly call for the swift passage of the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and that she also call unequivocally for abolishing or providing a voting rights exception to the Senate filibuster.
  • November 17, 2021 - Endorse a letter to Rep. Anna Eshoo in support of HR 2590, the Defending the Human Rights of Palestinian Children and Families Living Under Israeli Military Occupation Act
  • October 20, 2021 - Sign onto a letter that calls on Vice President Harris and Senate Leadership to ignore the Senate Parliamentarian and provide a path to citizenship for millions
  • September 15, 2021 - Co-sponsor the March for Citizenship & Economic Rights
  • August 18, 2021 - Sign onto a letter to Senator Padilla requesting him to sign the pledge to support HJR 48, the We the People Amendment, that seeks to achieve equity for human beings by restoring the constitution to its original meaning: a document protecting the rights of people
  • June 16, 2021 - SBPA sign onto the letter opposing AB 1139 which would kill California’s rooftop solar and energy storage market
  • June 16, 2021 - Sent $200 to the attorneys challenging Government Code Section 3205 which makes it a misdemeanor for county employees to solicit campaign donations from other county employees.
  • May 19, 2021 - Sign onto this letter to the SJ City Council opposing the proposed Light Tower art installation
  • May 19, 2021 - Support inclusion of Immigration Relief (legalization for the 11 million undocumented immigrants) in the American Jobs Plan & American Families Plan
  • May 19, 2021 - Support the CLEAR Act (which deals with Immigrants and Law Enforcement) by signing onto the support letter
  • April 21, 2021 - Endorse SB 467 that provides a 2,500 ft. health-and-safety buffer zone between toxic drilling and homes, schools, playgrounds, hospitals and other sensitive sites.
  • April 21, 2021 - Support SB 692, The Special Education Inclusion Act, sponsored by the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE)
  • March 17, 2021 - Co-sponsor and fund ($200) an event with the SV/SJ NAACP exploring the question “Would gender equity in police departments increase public safety?”
  • February 17, 2021 - Sign onto a letter to Evelynn Tran, Acting General Manager, Santa Clara County VTA, to protect VTA workers and riders during the COVID upsurge by reinstating rear-door boarding
  • February 17, 2021 - Sign onto a letter of support for Ash Kalra to become the next Attorney General
  • January 20, 2021 - Co-sponsor a Health Justice Dialogue being held by the Santa Clara County Single Payer Coalition in late February.
  • January 20, 2021 - Support a set of climate resiliency bills - the California Building Decarbonization Package: SB 30, SB 31, SB 32 & SB 37.
  • December 16, 2020 - Signed onto Silicon Valley De-Bug’s OpEd to the Mercury-News calling for Santa Clara County to adopt reforms rooted in mercy, rehabilitation, and restorative justice.
  • December 16, 2020 - Endorse and co-sponsor the  Feb. 6, 2021, car caravan for California Guaranteed Health Care for All (CalCare).
  • October 21, 2020 - SBPA signed the Common Cause online letters supporting redistricting reform in San Jose and Sunnyvale.
  • September 16, 2020 - Supported an effort on behalf of AB 841 by the youth at SVYCA to use existing CPUC funding for public schools to upgrade energy-related infrastructure.
  • August 19, 2020 - Endorsed Schools and Communities First (Prop. 15) that will increase funding for K-12 public schools, community colleges, and local governments by requiring that commercial and industrial real property be taxed based on current market value.
  • August 19, 2020 - Endorsed Measure T that will ensure that the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority can continue to protect open spaces, natural wildlife habitats, the land around creeks and streams.
  • August 19, 2020 - Endorsed the California State Public Bank Act, AB 310, which paves the way for forming the California State Public Bank by using the Pooled Money Investment Account.
  • July 15, 2020 - Support the #NoCopMoneyCA effort to get candidates to pledge to not accept contributions or endorsements from police or correctional officer unions or associations and instead prioritize the protection of Black lives and our communities over police repression and the incarceration industry.
  • July 15, 2020 - Endorsed HJR 48, a call for a Constitutional Amendment that says money is not speech, corporations do not have Constitutional rights, and both can be regulated again..
  • July 15, 2020 - Support Silicon Valley DeBug's Defund the Police Campaign that provides details about defunding the police and allocating the resources instead to community services.
  • June 17, 2020 - Support reinstating Affirmative Action in California by endorsing ACA 5 pending in the State legislature.
  • June 17, 2020 - Supported the efforts of California Common Cause in creating independent citizens commissions to redraw district lines, instead of leaving this power to electorally self-interested incumbents. .
  • May 20, 2020 - Authorize a letter of opposition to Regional Medical Center’s plans to shut down its maternity and newborn units.
  • April 15, 2020 - Join Bay Area for Clean Environment in urging the County Board of Supervisors to (1) Transition Away from Burning of Coal and Petroleum-coke in Santa Clara County, and (2) Deny the 2019 Permanente Quarry Amended Reclamation Plan.
  • Feb. 15, 2020 - Endorse San Jose Measure E, a transfer tax on luxury homes and commercial properties valued over $2 million.
  • August 21, 2019 - Support the Cupertino Youth Climate Action Team's petition to the Mayor of Cupertino to create initiatives to limit plastic, carbon, and waste throughout the city.
  • August 21, 2019 - Support the ACLU Northern California's position on the use of Facial Recognition Software in Santa Clara County.
  • August 21, 2019 - Support South Bay Indigenous Solidarity (formerly Friends of Juristac) and the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band in opposing the proposed rock quarry at Sargent Ranch on the Amah Mutsun sacred territory traditionally known as Juristac.
  • August 21, 2019 - Co-sponsor the Human Agenda’s Break The Mold Conference on October 5, 2019.
  • August 21, 2019 - Support the Last Chance Alliance by signing onto their letter to Gavin Newsom to (1) halt the development of all new dirty fuel infrastructure in California, and (2) create a plan to phase-out all fossil fuels as quickly as possible and provide support and opportunities for those who will be impacted by this transition.
  • June 19, 2019 - co-sponsor Silicon Valley Youth Climate Summit at De Anza College on Saturday, July 13, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm.
  • April 17, 2019 - AB 1505: LOCAL CONTROL OVER CHARTERS by Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell would give control back to local elected school boards to decide whether a charter school is the right fit for their communities, instead of unelected officials who are geographically far away.
  • April 17, 2019 - AB 1506: CAP ON CHARTER GROWTH by Assemblymember Kevin McCarty would establish a cap on the growth of charter schools, limiting the destabilizing impact of the unchecked charter expansion pushed by privatizers and the corporate charter lobby.
  • April 17, 2019 - AB 1507: CHARTERS MUST OPERATE LOCALLY by Assemblymember Christy Smith would close a loophole in current law that allows a charter school to operate outside of its authorizing district.
  • April 17, 2019 - AB 1508: FISCAL IMPACT ON LOCAL DISTRICTS by Assemblymember Rob Bonta would allow local school boards to consider facilities, fiscal, and academic impacts on the district when considering new charter school petitions.
  • April 17, 2019 - SB 756 Charter Moratorium Bill would express the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation containing specific policies relating to charter schools on or before January 1, 2020.
  • March 20, 2019 - Support a City of San Jose proposal to 1) explore feasibility of a Public Bank, 2) support AB 857, and 3) adopt a resolution urging California State legislators to enable local agencies to create public banks.
  • February 20, 2019 - Co-sponsor March 16-18 March for Fossil Fuel Freedom and host one of the Stagecoach stops (Milbrae).
  • January 16, 2019 - Co-sponsor the Committee for Green Foothills Jan. 22nd "Rally for Coyote Valley" at San Jose City Hall.
  • January 16, 2019 - Support the Medicare-for-All Barnstorm event on Saturday, Feb. 9, sponsored by Santa Clara County Single Payer Health Care Coalition.

  • May 17, 2017 - Endorsed The Silicon Valley Climate Action Alliance’s letter to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District in support of Rule 12-16 to define and limit refinery emissions in the East Bay.
